Just a stone’s throw away from the Magdalen Estate, on Nightingale Lane which leads towards Clapham South tube station, famous faces have been gathering in a care home, to give the residents the chance to share tea with and gain an insight into the lives of celebrities from all walks of life.
The latest guest to be welcomed to Nightingale was acclaimed actor Timothy West, who delighted residents and staff with stories of his residency with a theatre company, with whom he once performed in forty-five plays in one year, as well of his time working on the popular television series Edward VII.
Mr West is certainly not the first to have enjoyed a day at Nightingale- other guests in recent months include Rolf Harris, Michael Palin, and Balham resident Ian Hislop, the editor of Private Eye magazine.
We always love to hear of community projects and schemes that are being supported not only by well-known names, but also by locals living around the Magdalen Estate. If you’re involved in something that makes a difference to the lives of others, why not let us know about it, and we can give you a well-deserved mention in our blog. We look forward to hearing your story.Google+
