Blue Peter Presenter Scales Wandsworth Heights

make your own comic relief event around the Magdalen EstateNot content with being the only person to have kayaked the Amazon River alone, daredevil Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton has now set herself a new challenge- being the first to walk across a high-wire between the chimneys of Battersea Power Station, to raise money for Comic Relief.
Helen told the Wandsworth Guardian, “I’ll be attached to a device like a seatbelt that will kick in if I fall off, I won’t be able to feel or hear it, so it really will just feel like me and my balance pole alone on the wire, more than 50 metres up.” She also spoke of how she found inspiration in the Man on Wire for the title of her own stunt, Girl on Wire.
With her family being local to Wandsworth and the Magdalen Estate area, Helen’s Mum and other close relatives will be there to cheer her on during the event.
If you know of anyone living in or around the Magdalen Estate area who gets up to all sorts of daring adventures, either in or outside the Wandsworth borough, please do get in touch and let us know, and we’d be delighted to feature their story in our blog.
